Chapter 1 Lulu and Moo On The Ferry

Updated: 2 days ago

Chapter 1

Lulu the little duckling and Moo the fluffy Highland cow had never been on such a big adventure before.

They had ridden all the way to the Plymouth Ferry, tucked safely behind the big motorcycle’s front windscreen. The wind had whooshed past them, making Lulu’s tiny feathers flutter and Moo’s shaggy fringe bounce up and down.

“Wheee!” Lulu had quacked at every turn.

Moo giggled. Secretly he loved it too.

They had stopped at busy service stations along the way, where the two friends had stared curiously at the shiny cars and people rushing about.

But now… now they were somewhere completely new.

They were on the ferry.

Down in the car deck, surrounded by rows and rows of motorcycles, all different colours and sizes.

“It’s like a giant cave,” whispered Lulu, her eyes wide.

“And it smells a bit funny,” Moo added, wrinkling his nose.

Above them, the ferry hummed and rumbled as it carried them far out to sea.

They couldn’t see the water from the car deck, but they could feel the gentle sway.

Rock… rock… rock…

Hum… hum… hum…

“Do you think the ocean is big?” Lulu asked.

Moo smiled his slow, thoughtful smile. “Bigger than all the fields I’ve ever seen.”

Lulu gasped. “That’s big!”

Somewhere far above, waves rolled and seabirds cried, but down in the car deck it felt like a secret world, just for them.

Lulu snuggled close to Moo. “I think I like adventures,” she said softly.

Moo nodded. “Me too”, he agreed.

And as the ferry sailed through the night, carrying them toward new lands, Lulu and Moo dreamed of all the places they would go next.
