Chapter 6

Lulu and Moo were up bright and early in the morning sun, ready for another day of surprises.

Lulu and Moo were ready before anybody else!

As soon as they set off, the road twisted and turned through the mountains and before long they spotted something wonderful in the distance.

“Look, Moo!” shouted Lulu. “Lakes!”

There ahead were beautiful blue lakes, sparkling between the mountains. They were so blue that Moo wondered if someone had accidentally tipped a giant bucket of sky into them, but he didn’t say it out loud.

Blue water lake, surrounded by mountains, in Northern Spain.
Moo thought that the lake looked the same colour as the sky!

They hadn't gone much further when suddenly they had to stop.

Not because of a fallen tree.

Not because of a bear.

Not even because of the large rock that had rolled onto the road.

It was sheep.

In fact…lots and lots of sheep, their bells jingle jangling as they bustled around.

They had decided that the road was the perfect place for a little stroll and they didn't seem the slightest bit interested in moving out of the way.

“Well,” said Moo, “I suppose we have to wait.”

One particularly fluffy sheep wandered right past the motorcycle and gave Lulu a long, serious look.

“I think it’s wondering what we are,” whispered Lulu, trying a little smile.

Eventually, the sheep decided to let them squeeze through and Lulu and Moo carried on their journey, Moo chuckling as they weaved this way and that through the fluff, bleats, bells and “BAA-aas”.

By lunchtime, they had found a lovely spot beside a river. The water rushed over the rocks, making a wonderful splashing sound.

They ate their lunch and watched the water go by, finding its way to the beautiful lake.

“It's much quieter here than on the sheepy road!” said Moo.

After lunch, they continued through the mountains and soon came to a tunnel.

The tunnel disappeared right into the mountainside.

“Where do you think it goes?” asked Moo.

“Probably somewhere exciting,” said Lulu.

They bravely rode into the darkness, with the sound of the motorcycle echoing off the walls.

Then, suddenly…

LIGHT!

They burst out the other side and found themselves surrounded by mountains again.

Lulu and Moo looked at each other.

There was another.

Then another.

By the 3rd tunnel, they were both squealing with delight as they dived in one end and popped out the other!

They looked at each other, laughing.

Another day.

Another adventure.

And, thankfully, no more sheep.

Not yet, at least…
